February 28, 2025—mark your calendars! My successful fantasy novel Der Mondtränendieb is finally making its way into English bookstores as The Thief of the Moon Tear. (You can find it on Amazon.)
To celebrate, I couldn’t resist sitting down for an interview with the star of the story himself: Will, a young thief living near the edge of the Wilderwood, where ancient magic still runs wild. What secrets did he spill? You’ll have to find out!
Michael: Welcome, Will! Thanks for taking the time to talk with me. Let’s dive right in. You’re a thief by trade—how did you get into that line of work?
Will (leaning back with a grin): Ah, well, let’s just say I wasn’t exactly born into a life of luxury. When you’re stuck on the streets of Gharstig with nothing but your wits and fast fingers, you learn pretty quickly how to “borrow” things. You know, just to survive.
Michael: Of course! So, what’s life like as a thief, especially in a place like the Fae Realm?
Will: Oh, it’s an absolute nightmare. Try sneaking around when every flower is enchanted, and the trees are probably gossiping about your every move. I swear, I’ve been outsmarted by plants more times than I care to admit. And don’t even get me started on the magical creatures. Stealing from humans? That’s a walk in the park compared to fae territory.
Michael: Speaking of fae, you’ve had some, uh, interesting experiences with a certain fae warrior recently, haven’t you?
Will (fidgeting with his shirt): Oh, Leigh? Yeah, interesting is one way to put it. First, he nearly killed me, then he decided to save me, and now … well, let’s just say our relationship is complicated.
Michael (raising an eyebrow): Complicated? Care to elaborate?
Will (shrugging): Look, he’s a fae warrior, alright? All stoic, duty-bound, and annoyingly handsome—ugh, did I just say that? Forget I said that. Anyway, we’re from two completely different worlds. I’m a thief, and he’s a warrior. Not exactly a match made in heaven.
Michael: Sounds like you’re trying to convince yourself of something.
Will (scoffing): I’m not trying to convince anyone of anything! It’s just … he’s saved my life a few times now, and I guess I owe him, but that doesn’t mean I like him or anything.
Michael (laughing): Okay, okay. Let’s switch gears. What’s the toughest part of your current situation?
Will: You mean besides running for my life through a magical forest filled with creatures that want to eat me? Honestly, it’s trying to figure out who to trust. The fae aren’t exactly known for their honesty, and I’m not used to relying on anyone but myself. And now I’ve got this mission to save my sister Kela, and I’m stuck in a place where even the trees might be plotting against me.
Michael: Your sister means a lot to you, doesn’t she?
Will (softening): Yeah, she’s everything I’ve got. Kela practically raised me. Without her, I wouldn’t be here. So if I have to dive headfirst into fae territory to save her, then that’s what I’ll do. Even if it means putting up with Leigh along the way.
Michael (smiling): Looks like you’ve got quite the journey ahead. Any advice for our readers who might be facing tough decisions themselves?
Will: Yeah, don’t be like me. Try not to get tangled up in magical messes with fae warriors. But if you do, keep your wits about you, trust your instincts, and—most importantly—always know where the nearest exit is.
Michael (laughing): Solid advice, Will. Thanks for the chat. I’m looking forward to seeing where your adventure takes you!
Will (grinning): Me too! Trust me, wherever it goes, it won’t be boring.
