Editor's note
At this point, we had actually intended to present you with the continuation of Harlan Finch's research on Widow Creek. The first two articles captivated us—and many of you. However, the promised continuation has not arrived.

Instead, we received an automated message: Harlan Finch had taken a sabbatical and was “presumably in Europe.” An unusual formulation that seems vague and strangely open-ended.
What's remarkable is that just a few days earlier, Finch had sent us a message in which he spoke of “something incredible” he had discovered. No details, just hints.
What did he find in Widow Creek?
Another relic of the Lynch family? A clue to the whereabouts of the mysterious daughter “R. Lynch”? Or something that was not so easy to put into words?
We don't know. But we are certain that Finch was onto something – and Widow Creek remains the place where answers could be found.
Until we learn more, all we can do is look at the gaps between his words – and ask why someone who was so close to a publication he himself had announced as “incredible” suddenly fell silent.
Did he realize that he had fallen for a local myth and fled to avoid embarrassment? Or did what he discovered make him... here we would have to speculate.
For now, Widow Creek remains what it has been for years: an unsolved mystery.
