How it feels to finish a trilogy – and at the same time open the next door
To end a trilogy in the Space World series feels as if I were Scheherazade telling 1001 Nights – every ending is the beginning of a new idea.
With Continuum, the No Brainer trilogy ends. And at the same time something new begins.
The threads that were spun in Dire Contact, the cracks that opened in Space Time – all of this comes together here. Answers appear, but more questions emerge: bigger, more dangerous, more personal.
What if the enemy is not an enemy at all?
What if time itself has a blind spot?
And what if that is precisely where the truth lies?
connections arise. Where reality and possibility can no longer be easily separated.
And for me as an author?
It is a strange moment – because the Space World, its story and the characters who live in it and experience it, have developed so much, since I drafted the first scenes of Dire Contact at the end of 2019 and picked them up again in 2023. What began as the idea of a story has become a world whose first story is told with the completion of the No Brainer trilogy.
But actually, it is not a farewell. Because Continuum is not the end.
It is the conclusion of a first journey – and the beginning of all that comes after.
Cover, Stretch Goals and the Space World Look
The cover draft for Continuum is set. And yes – the fist is no longer blue. Why did I ever think that was a good idea? No clue. But the new version fits and feels right.
And because with the end of the No Brainer trilogy the Space World has also found its art style, we celebrate this accordingly:
stretch goals there will not only be new character artworks, but also a complete revision of the previous illustrations – so that everything comes together in a unified, unmistakable style.
Thus, the No Brainer trilogy is not only completed in content – but also visually.
