When voices build worlds

The audiobook of Dire Contact

With the release of the English audiobook, Dire Contact is now available in three formats and two languages. The story of missing people, mysterious memories, and the boundaries of reality and perception is now not only accessible internationally – it has also been given an audio dimension that allows the characters to appear in a new light (or sound?).
We listened for you.

Some stories you read. Others you hear. And then there are stories like Dire Contact, which unfold on multiple levels – when you read them, when you hear them, in your thoughts and in your imagination.

The story is now available not only as a book and e-book, but also as a complete audiobook – in German and English. This makes it accessible to different reading habits and also complete in itself: a small narrative universe that works on three media levels. And in both languages.

Read, listen, immerse yourself

Why an audiobook at all? The short answer: because the story lent itself to it. The longer answer: because audio is a way of experiencing stories differently – perhaps even more directly.

When we read, we fill in the gaps between the lines with our imagination. When we listen, someone else does that for us: with rhythm, intonation, pauses – with moods in their voice that go beyond what is written on the page. It's not better or worse than reading – but it's different. Complementary. And sometimes surprisingly intense.

For many, an audiobook is simply more practical: on the go, when falling asleep, while walking. For others, it's a new perspective on a story they already know. In both cases, audio brings the characters to life – in the truest sense of the word.

One voice, two languages

What makes it special is that the same narrator was in the studio for both the German and English versions. This is unusual – and that's exactly what makes it so appealing. It creates a rare form of continuity: regardless of whether you listen to the German or English version, the characters sound familiar. Not in the sense of being identical, but in the sense of being recognizable.

This is a particularly exciting effect in a book like Dire Contact – after all, the plot (as you realize later...) plays with different realities and perspectives. The fact that the characters' voices remain consistent creates an almost casual bridge between these levels.

Narrator Christopher Wilson has given each character their own unique tone without ever overdoing it. This is not a radio play, but an intense storytelling experience with a keen sense of mood, pace, and atmosphere.

One story, many ways

Whether you prefer to sit on the sofa with a book, disappear into your e-reader on the train, or travel through the galaxy with headphones on, Dire Contact is now available in all formats. In print. Digital. And audio.

Whether as a book, e-book, or audiobook, Dire Contact proves that a story can take many forms – and that each of them has its own charm.
